Jan Jaap van Basten Batenburg (1933) has become the 30th collator since its foundation in 1501 since June 11, 2020.

Jan Jaap was born in Lichtenvoorde and lives in The Hague, The Netherlands, with his wife.

He was recognized by the board of the Foundation on 2020, July 14th and succeeds Eugène van Basten Batenburg, who passed away on this date. Jan Jaap was previously a board member of the Foundation in the period 1979-2002.

The collator of the Vicarie is the one who can provide student grants. And that has been since the medieval origin of this foundation: “the oldest and closest legal relative of the founder in the male line“.
